Address & General Info

The official address is; land off Unicumes Lane, ME16. Unicumes Lane runs from the junction of Upper Fant  Road, ME15 8JJ and Hackney Road, ME16 8DD. At this junction you oughto be able to see Fant Farm to the East. Take the track north (Unicumes Lane) for about 200 m till you pass under a railway bridge (1.95 head hight) and come to the river Medway. You should have passed by an apple orchard on your right and allotments on your left.On the riverside of the bridge is a small clearing where you can park.  Walk upstream for 75 m (past a maypoll tree on your right hand side) and my land starts there where the railway line recedes, for 275 metres, till fencing appears close the the path. There is 72'x14' dumb barge moored in the middle of my land.

There is a public right of way(on foot) but should you buy or lease any land you will have right of access which means you will be able to drive onto your land. Be clear that any structure or activity that requires planning permission will refused by Maidstone Planning Dept. On the other hand, no permission is required to moor on the river in the course of navigation and as owner of the land you riparian rights include mooring. It's just that you must use your equipment (ropes) and not build anything that requires engineering (we tie up to trees). This part of the Medway is non tidal. The Medway river and it's bank come under the authority of the Environment Agency. I have found them to be very helpful and generous with their time.

I bought this land in 2011 from John and Julian Hartswell. These gentlemen have decades of experience in this field. They have a useful website (Mooringland.Info).
